Jay Burstein is a senior executive with over 30 years of consulting, financial and operating experience in a wide range of industries. He has an extensive background in building corporate infrastructures including all aspects of finance, accounting and administration. In addition, his experience includes oversight of software development and IT functions, M&A, and system conversions. He has leveraged his senior management skills to work effectively with all levels of an organization from front-line accounting staff to members of Senior Management and Audit Committees.
While at AMS, Jay has performed and provided oversight for interim and part-time CFO engagements across a range of business and industries.He has been the firm lead in Sarbanes-Oxley compliance managing projects for clients in varying industries ranging from several million dollars to over $1 billion in revenues. Jay has broad experience with mergers and acquisitions. His focus in these activities included initial development of growth strategies, due diligence, identification of synergies and financial modeling/projections to support negotiations of price and terms. From a technical accounting perspective, Jay has also participated in and led revenue recognition projects across software and other technology industries.
Before joining AMS, he served as a financial consultant, engaging in Sarbanes-Oxley implementation for a range of industries including telecommunications, software, retail, and investments, private equity accounting, financial analysis, and interim CFO services.
Prior to consulting Jay served in Controller, CFO and COO capacities, building financial and administrative infrastructures for businesses including an $8 million venture capital backed, multinational company engaged in website development, software localization, and translation of printed materials, a $150 million financial services subsidiary of State Street Bank and a $220 million mutual fund and bank services operating unit of First Data Corporation.
Jay received his BA degree in English Literature from Brandeis University and an MBA in accounting and finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is a CPA in Massachusetts.
