Education
Schools, colleges, universities, educational institutions of all types are dealing with a rapidly changing world. Where once a school could depend on a certain level of income from its endowments, now they must often match budgets to their income at a time when consumer finances are challenging the ability of students and parents to pay full tuition.
Meanwhile, concepts like charter schools represent new promise and new tests, especially when it comes to getting started – creating a chart of accounts, writing the finance policies and procedures, and implementing new financial systems. They struggle with many of the same challenges facing our public schools. Financial resources have decreased (full tuition reimbursement is uncertain – it used to go up every year.) Expenses like salaries and healthcare benefits get larger and expectations are going up. (Some schools are adding social workers and other expensive support staff where previously they just had teaching staff.)
Educational organizations of all types—colleges and universities, post-secondary institutions, independent and charter schools, and other educationally oriented institutions and programs—need a strong financial accounting and reporting system if they are to deliver the educational excellence expected of them. AMS assists by providing seasoned accounting and financial professionals who employ best practices on an interim, ongoing, or project basis.
